Project Insights for stakeholder data analytics

This article talks about how to run different scenarios to derive insights from the stakeholder data

Pre-requisites

  1. A Project with stakeholder data collected through a survey or through a data import

These are the various scenarios that we would be running in this tutorial

  1. Analyzing select one or multi-select fields
  2. Analyzing select one or multi-select fields and disaggregating it with another select one or multi-select field
  3. Analyzing select one fields with a numeric field
  4. Analyzing select one fields with a numeric field and disaggregating it with another select-one or multi-select field
  5. Analyzing select-one or multi-select fields with multiple numeric fields
  6. Measuring progress on multiple dimensions using the radar chart
  7. Filtering the visualization further using the advanced filters
  8. Customizing Visualizations (Types of charts, colors, labels, etc)

Let's look at this one step at a time,

  1. Login to Impact Cloud with your credentials and click on "Impact Insights" from the menu (as shown below)

2. Navigate to "Project Insights" from the menu on the top

3. Select the project that you want to analyze (This opens up a menu on the left)

4. From the menu on the left select the table (these are the surveys that you may have conducted on your stakeholders) that you wish to analyze

The steps above are common for all visualizations. We will now look at each scenario and go through the selection involved in deriving different visualizations.

Analyzing select one or multi-select fields

This is the simplest visualization and involves looking at the distribution of data on single-select and multi-select fields

1. Select a single-select or a multi-select field from the drop-down, for example, we select a gender from our data set

the system defaults to "Count Options" for the Y-axis settings  (This tells our system to count the options within the Gender field individually)

2. Click on "Create Insights" and you should see a visualization that looks something like below

3. You may choose in the "X-axis Options" drop-down the specific options that need to show up in the visualization.

Analyzing select one or multi-select fields and disaggregating it with another select one or multi-select field

If you want to quickly disaggregate the single-select field with another single-select or multi-select field, follow the steps below

1. Select the Project

2. Select the Table that you want to analyze

3. Select a single-select field, for example, gender

4. The system defaults to "Count Options"

5. To disaggregate Gender with some other field, select a single-select or a multi-select field in the Disaggregate By drop-down, for example, here the Gender field is being disaggregated by "Education Level"

6. You may also select specific options to show on visualization from the Disaggregate By options drop-down (please click on "Create Insights" again after making the selection)

Analyzing select one fields with a numeric field

If you want to analyze a select-one field with a numeric field, for example, to look at the average amount of scholarships received by students and disaggregated by Gender you may follow the steps below

1. Select the project that you want to analyze

2. Next, Select the Table

3. Select "Gender" on the X-axis (as shown in the screenshot below)

4. On the Y-axis, because you want to select a numeric filed, you will have to choose "FIELDS" from the tabs (shown in the screenshot above)

5. Next, you need to select the Y-axis field, in our case, we choose "Scholarship Amount"

6. You may choose a different Aggregate operation from the drop-down that is presented. The system defaults to "Average"

7. Click on Create Insights. In the screenshot below, you will see the average amount of scholarship disaggregated by the Gender field

Analyzing select one fields with a numeric field and disaggregating it with another select-one or multi-select field

To analyze a select-one field with a numeric field and disaggregating it with another field, for example, to look at the average amount of scholarships received by students based on Gender and disaggregated by "Education Level" (This could be any Single select or multi-select fields) you may follow the steps below

8. To disaggregate this further on "Education Level" which is a Select One field, choose the field in the Disaggregate By drop-down, in our case, Education Level. The below visualization shows average amount of scholarship amount disaggregated by Gender and Education Level

9. You may select the options to show on the visualization by choosing  specific options in the "Disaggregate By Options" drop-down

Analyzing select-one or multi-select fields with multiple numeric fields

You may compare multiple numeric fields over a single-select or multi-select fields. For example, we can compare "Current Total Income" vs "Previous Daily Income" disaggregate by Gender

1. Select the project that you want to analyze

2. Next, Select the Table

3. Select "Gender" on the X-axis (as shown in the screenshot below)

4. Select "Fields" for the Y-axis

5. Select the numeric options in the Y-axis fields (you may select one or more)

6. Click on Create Insights
